Problems with Trial Licenses Tied to MAC Addresses

System specifications:

The issue arises because GraphPad links trial usage to a MAC address. When a Fresh Start machine is cloned, it typically retains the same MAC address. Usually this doesn't cause problems, but in this scenario the application indicates that the license has already been consumed, as it was on a prior clone. Even if the machine is located on a different server or in a datacenter on another continent, this error will still appear.

The workaround, therefore, is to change the MAC address. On Linux this is straightforward and well-documented, but it's less straightforward on Windows.

Modifying the MAC address in Windows through the usual recommended methods won't be effective, because the machine's qemu.conf file overrides the internal MAC change. Thus, while you can alter the MAC address in Windows 10, that change alone won't resolve the issue.

This is due to the qemu.conf file containing a preset MAC address; altering that address supplies a new MAC, which in turn enables a different license key.

For this to take effect, 'Network Isolation' on each machine must be set to 'Disabled'; then the MAC address defined in qemu.conf will be utilized.
