Building Standalone Desktops
To build Standalone Desktops, follow these steps:
- Select 'Standalones' from the top menu
- Click 'Create New Standalone' Desktop
- A dialog box appears as shown below

Each field's meaning is explained below:
-
GPU Model
Pick a GPU and type if necessary. Checking 'Display GPU enabled servers' will only show servers that have GPUs available -
Datacentre / Server
Choose the datacentre region and server closest to you in Mexico -
OS to clone from
Several different Operating Systems are offered.

If a template is marked 'Copy Required', the template is available but must be copied to that server before use. Typically, only Windows OS may incur additional fees. -
Include Custom, RC, and Old Versions
DaDesktop regularly updates OS templates, but if you encounter problems with the newest template, you can try an older version
-
Memory
Set the memory limit for the desktops. Keep in mind that you are, by default, constrained by the server's resources. Each server may have different memory limits. To raise these limits, contact us via Support Chat. -
Label
Enter an alias if you'd like a simpler label for your standalone.
OS Template Selection
When selecting and creating an Operating System Template, you have several choices.
Options include Windows and various Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu, Debian, Almalinux, etc.
Pre-built templates, typically indicated by a version number like V51, are available.
We also now provide the option to build fully up-to-date Linux templates. The 'Build New' Linux templates use an entirely different build system, where Linux sources are paired with a script that provides essential DaDesktop customizations. This approach ensures the template is always current, fully secure, and easier to deploy and maintain.
Building an OS Template
After selecting the required template, the following pop-up appears.
Click 'Start Building'
The standalone will now be constructed for you. Do note that the build process might take longer than 30 seconds; if it seems stalled, simply wait a bit longer.
Template Now Built and Ready
Once the template is built, adjust any options as needed, then click 'Save and Create Desktop'.
Your Standalone is being created—this usually takes just a few moments, far less time than building the template itself.
Your new Standalone is now ready. In the example below it's named 'julian-6iqm', but you could have given it a more descriptive label if desired.
Click 'Connect' to launch and access the Standalone machine.
