FAQ for DaDesktop Training

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (due to the need for Excel functionality)

  1. No, MS Office is not included inside DaDesktop (which runs on Win10 and Win11 Pro). Instead, you get a DaDesktop virtual machine and a training room.
  2. Trainers should set up a free trial of Microsoft Office for all participants.
  3. Otherwise, attendees can use their own Microsoft Office accounts.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've a straightforward way to move files from your own computer onto your DaDesktop workspace. The only minor restriction is that you can only transfer one file at a time. However, you can easily bundle all the files you need into a zip or archive and copy that over without hassle.
  2. If you use a cloud storage service, be sure to sign out before cloning the desktop to all participants.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. When using Chrome, navigate to chrome://settings/system and turn off the hardware acceleration setting.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No. The Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register specify that trainers are not permitted to access the wiki.
  2. If you need to send material for the NobleProg wiki, copy and paste it into an email to the trainer (a PDF is fine, too).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Absolutely. Be sure to whitelist domains matching the following pattern:

  1. *.npg.io
  2. https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

If you have more questions, reach out to DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. Trainers begin by configuring the DaDesktop settings (RAM, CPU cores, disk space).
  2. Next, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DaDesktop to create multiple virtual machines and configure networking between them.
  3. Once the setup is complete, you can clone the environment to participants in seconds.
  4. For assistance, reach out to DaDesktop Support.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It varies based on the hardware of the server.
  2. As an illustration, 512 GB of RAM can be utilized as 512 GB x3.
  3. Each server supports up to 250 GB of disk space, 16 CPU threads per desktop, and RAM can be customized.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, you can download recordings by clicking the three small dots on the right side of the video player.
  2. The video also includes voice audio when you use the training room's sound.

9. Which browser should I used for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work perfectly.
  2. Browsers like Internet Explorer aren't fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?

  1. First, verify your network connection—DaDesktop performance depends on your local internet speed.
  2. Look into your server location. When the coordinator creates the desktop, they will always pick a server near the participants in Mexico.
  3. Disable your VPN or switch to PAC mode. Also, turn off any security applications, particularly those that interfere with WebSockets, since smooth DaDesktop operation relies on that protocol.

11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network

Remote Desktop access depends on WebSocket

  1. The issue might originate from your device blocking WebSocket. Look into settings or configurations that could be preventing WebSocket communication. For instance, on some Chromebooks, in proxy settings, if "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is checked, WebSocket won't work (because it forces the proxy for SOCKS). Uncheck that option and leave the "SOCKS host" field empty; this usually resolves the problem.
  2. The network itself could be at fault, not your device. You'll need to contact your network administrator or ask them to unblock WebSocket.

12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?

  1. For details on GPU support, check out our GPU page.

13. Is there any potential issues or answers?

  1. Using DaDesktop generally feels just like a standard Windows or Linux computer, but you might encounter a few minor hiccups with certain software when cloning training environments. See these potential issues for more info.

14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?

  1. Unfortunately, we don't support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, primarily because of licensing complications.
