Course VPN

The Course VPN feature (CVPN) enables desktops to directly connect and communicate with one another.

This functionality supersedes the "Turn off network isolation" option. Previously, with network isolation disabled, desktops could only communicate with others on the same server, but cross-server or cross-data center communication was not possible.

With Course VPN, any desktop enrolled in a particular course can communicate freely, no matter which server or data center it resides on.

This feature is exclusively supported on Ubuntu and Windows 10 operating systems. For other OS platforms, you can still use the "Turn off network isolation" approach.

The following terminal screenshots illustrate the CVPN interface as seen from the command line, along with certain additional properties of the connected network interface.

The screenshots below show the VPN network interface that is automatically generated when training workstations are provisioned. In the following images, two student workstation terminals display the `edge0` interface, which corresponds to the Course VPN connection.
